Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić's office has announced that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will pay an official visit to Serbia on Saturday, August 8, his first visit to the country since the start of Russia's full-scale occupation and his presidency.
The visit comes at a time when Ukraine has intensified its attacks on Russia, striking important economic and infrastructure facilities near Moscow.
On August 6, the Serbian president's office announced that Vučić would receive Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday, August 8, for an official visit. No further details were released.
The visit, which has been under discussion for some time, will be Zelenskyy's first diplomatic trip to Serbia since the start of the full-scale war, as well as his first since taking office as president.
In July, Vučić traveled to Kiev along with other regional leaders to attend the Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit.
After the summit, Vučić said he was “not completely” satisfied with the level of assistance Serbia had provided to Ukraine. However, he again refused to sign the summit’s joint statement, which called for continued political, military, financial and security support for Ukraine, as well as increased pressure on Russia.
