The Trump administration has approved the sale of an additional $7 billion in weapons and ammunition to the United Arab Emirates without the State Department having to notify and notify Congress, under US law governing such transactions, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.
The purchases are in addition to $16.5 billion in sales announced earlier in the day, the newspaper reported.
The sale includes PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems, worth about $5.6 billion, and CH-47 Chinook helicopters, worth $1.32 billion, the report said, explaining that the sales were not publicly announced because they are extensions of already approved deals.
