The escalation of the conflict in the Middle East has also caused major consequences in the aviation sector, forcing many airlines to cancel or postpone flights to some of the region's main destinations.

Among them is Aegean Airlines, which announced that it will temporarily suspend a number of flights to and from several Middle Eastern cities for security reasons.

According to the company's announcement:

-Flights to and from Riyadh have been canceled until the early hours of March 14, 2026;

-Flights to Dubai are suspended until the evening of March 19, 2026;

-Flights to Tel Aviv are canceled until March 20, 2026;

-Flights to Beirut, Erbil and Baghdad are suspended until March 25, 2026.

The situation is related to strong tensions in the region following the coordinated American and Israeli military attack on Iran on February 28, a development that led to a rapid escalation of the conflict in several Middle Eastern countries.

In recent days, drone and missile attacks have been reported on several strategic areas, including airports and urban areas in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha. Dubai Airport – one of the world’s busiest for international flights – was forced to close for three days after it was hit by drone debris during counter-attacks.

Meanwhile, several countries have begun evacuating their citizens from the region. The United States has organized charter flights to evacuate American citizens from the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, while the United Kingdom has begun operations to evacuate citizens from Oman and the Emirates.
