Stephen Curry is ready for his 18th season in the NBA and has confirmed his desire to end his career with the Golden State Warriors. The 38-year-old, a part of the Warriors since 2009, when he was selected with the number 7 overall pick in the draft, is seeking to renew his contract, which currently keeps him with the team until the 2026-27 season, with a salary of $62.6 million per season.
The four-time NBA champion and two-time MVP said he wants to stay with Golden State for the rest of his career, but stressed that the renewal should not distract the team from its preparations. Under NBA rules, Curry can sign a new two-year contract worth about $136.7 million.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers have been hit hard by the NBA. The team has been fined $30 million and forfeited five first-round draft picks from 2029 to 2033 after violating salary cap rules regarding Kawhi Leonard. Owner Steve Ballmer has been suspended for a year, while Leonard has been fined $700.
The Clippers have opposed the decision and have announced an appeal, while Leonard's future remains in doubt, as his transfer to the Toronto Raptors has been blocked until the investigation is completed.
