The Democratic Party's national protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office continues, the second in a row this year.
In her speech to the protesters, Desada Xhetani, vice president of the Democratic Party Youth Forum (FRPD), addressed the problems that, according to her, young people and students in Albania face, harshly criticizing the current government.
Xhetani said that students today do not have the opportunity to focus solely on their studies, as they face economic difficulties, including the costs of rent and food, as well as the inability of their parents to support them financially. She emphasized that she represents a generation that grew up amidst poverty and mass emigration.
According to her, the government has failed the youth, education, parents and pensioners, adding that the last 13 years have been characterized by waiting and excuses. Xhetani stated that prolonged patience in the face of injustice does not constitute a virtue, but surrender.
In her speech, she raised concerns that youth employment is no longer based on merit, but on political connections, noting that students are asked who they know and not about their skills or professional background. She added that education, according to her, is despised by the government because it produces critical thinking, while political illiteracy, according to Xhetani, serves power.
