Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Israel was “forced to declare a ceasefire” in Lebanon, attributing the development to strong international diplomatic pressure. In a televised address, he stressed that Israel “has no right to attack” Hezbollah or other targets on Lebanese territory. Pezeshkian also thanked Pakistan for its role in the diplomatic efforts, which he said contributed to preserving Iran’s “dignity and pride.”
The Iranian president reiterated that his country does not seek to acquire nuclear weapons and that it seeks stability in the region, stressing that Tehran defends its territorial integrity in accordance with international law. At the same time, he accused the United States and Israel of inciting tensions through military action and targeted killings. On the other hand, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh stated that Iran rejects any temporary ceasefire agreement, calling for a full and comprehensive solution to the conflicts in the region.
Speaking at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, he stressed that any agreement must include all fronts, "from Lebanon to the Red Sea," calling this a "red line" for Tehran.
Khatibzadeh added that the cycle of conflicts must finally end, while accusing the US and Israel of negatively impacting regional stability and the global economy. He also touched on the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that it remains open to international shipping, despite tensions in the region.
