Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for maintaining normal shipping passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
In a phone call with Saudi Arabia's crown prince today, Xi also said he supports a comprehensive ceasefire between the US, Iran and Israel, state news agency Xinhua reported.
China is the main buyer of oil passing through the Strait of Hormuz, accounting for up to 50% of the country's crude oil imports, according to Columbia University's Center for Global Energy Policy.
