The civic revolt against Prime Minister Edi Rama, his government and the entire political class marks its 49th consecutive day today, July 18, 2026. After another massive march yesterday evening, where protesters were stationed in front of the Prime Minister's Office building, organizers have called for an even larger turnout this afternoon.
The main demand of this movement, which has filled Skanderbeg Square and Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard for weeks, remains unchanged: the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the complete removal of what they consider the "political caste" that has held the country hostage for more than three decades.
As every night, the last protest was also marked by banners with strong ironic and satirical messages directed at both the majority and the opposition. The square echoed with chants that have now become the symbol of this civic uprising:
-"Albania seeks revolution"
-“New Albania”
-"The end has come for you"
-“Rama SPAK you!”
-"Parliament of crime"
After 48 days of uninterrupted resistance, protest coordinators confirm that the revolt has no intention of stopping and that today's rally will be another indicator of civic determination.
"We will be in the square every day. This movement will only grow until the voice of the sovereign is heard and all our demands are met," the organizers said, once again inviting all citizens to join them on the Boulevard.
