Former President Ilir Meta's lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani, in an interview on the "Studio24" show in News24 explained the reasons for postponing the hearing on the merits for former President Meta.
"The session was postponed because Mr. Meta's ex-mother-in-law was not present and the legal representative was given the opportunity to arrange the power of attorney," he said.
He also stated that they requested that former President Meta be with his lawyer, while accusing the court of behaving 'like a terrorist'.
"The preliminary judge has no courage, morals if you will, he has no training. Today, a fact happened to us, we had made a request, that we requested that the President of the Republic, whether they want it or not, has presidential status... it is a title and that he be tried and in all sessions be with his lawyer... Only in Kazakhstan does it happen that they keep him in a cage. I had made a request to the judge and had notified all international institutions, they immediately reacted and said that he cannot be kept in a cage... But the legal basis in Albania does not mean that these people should be kept in a cage... Today he answered us and said that the terrorist in France, a Moroccan who had killed 140 people should be kept in an iron cage...", he said among other things.
