Singer Eleni Foureira has shared her personal experiences about the period when she came to Greece from Albania, describing things that impressed her, such as the different taste of bread, and then the great impact that motherhood had on her life.
In an interview for the podcast "Rainbow Mermaids," Foureira said that many things she experienced in Greece seemed extraordinary to her. She particularly mentioned her experience with the bakery's bread, which was very different from what her mother used to cook in Albania.
Regarding the birth of her son, Hermes, the singer explained that motherhood has profoundly transformed her: "Motherhood has changed me. You become a child again. You see this innocence in your child's eyes and you say 'hey, why did we become like this?' It reminds you of a part of yourself that you've lost. Society is becoming like this – it's a huge shame. You change, you grow, you mature, you hurt, you cry, you rejoice. Everything is part of the process. I just look at my child and try to teach him the best I can and make him the best person. He's an empty box that's being filled and you have to fill him with good elements. I'm going to try with all my might."
Foureira also spoke about the challenges of her life as a child, recalling the various jobs she did to help her family and how they experienced life with clothes and shoes taken from the market or from the church. Her narrative highlights not only personal experiences and childhood nostalgia, but also reflections on the transformative role of motherhood and the responsibility to shape a new life.
