The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has decided to abandon any requests for political positions, in an effort to pave the way for a solution to the institutional crisis in Kosovo.

After the meeting of the party's parliamentary group, LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku declared that his party will not seek participation in the government, ministerial positions, the leadership of the Assembly, or the Presidency.

"In order to free the process from any alibi and to pave the way for a solution in the national interest, the LDK withdraws from any request for positions and undertakes to contribute without any political gain to averting the current crisis," Abdixhiku said. He stressed that the LDK is not seeking any ministries, adding that Vetëvendosje can hold these positions.

"We are giving up our request for the Speaker of the Assembly and, most importantly, our request to hold the post of president," declared the LDK leader.

Abdixhiku made it clear that the LDK will remain in opposition, but will not use this position to block institutions. "We will remain in opposition and exercise this responsibility with dignity. Despite this position, we will not turn political disappointment into a blockade," he said.

Finally, Abdixhiku said that the LDK is ready to dialogue on the election of a president who protects the interests of the Republic, with the aim of contributing to overcoming the political impasse.
