US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, on a visit to Kiev, held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as part of the Trump administration's efforts to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Jared Kushner said the US delegation looks forward to further progress in talks aimed at ending the war.
While Steve Witkoff stated that the American team was "very encouraged" by what he described as a "substantial and important" discussion.
The two US envoys traveled to Kiev from Moscow, where they held a three-hour meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin the day before. The meeting in Moscow did not produce any significant progress toward a peace agreement.
In Kiev, Zelensky hosted Witkoff and Kushner at Saint Sophia Cathedral in the center of the Ukrainian capital. The meeting took place near the site of a Russian drone that was shot down on Friday after targeting Ukrainian security service offices.
