Xavi Hernandez is officially the new coach of the Netherlands. Unexpectedly, through a reaction to the media, the Dutch representative introduced the successor to Roland Koeman, with the latter leaving immediately after the end of the "FIFA2026" World Cup. Xavi's name had never been mentioned before to take the helm of one of the iconic representatives of European football.

Xavi signed a contract valid until 2030, a 4-year contract, until the end of the next World Cup. The Spanish coach did not hide his pleasure at leading a national team like the Netherlands:

"I consider it an incredible honor to become the coach of the Dutch national team. As someone who trained at the FC Barcelona academy, with strong influences from Johan Cruyff and Rinus Michels, among others, I feel a special connection to Dutch football. You could say that I am somewhat a son of Dutch football. The Netherlands has a rich football culture and a clear vision that appeals to me immensely: attacking football, based on possession, with creativity, passion and conviction. Of course, the most important goal is and always will be to win, but I prefer to do this in a way that reflects those characteristics and that people can enjoy," Xavi said, among other things, for the official website of the Dutch national team.

Xavi will make his debut in charge of the Netherlands on September 24 in the match against Germany, where he will face another debutant in the form of Jurgen Klopp.
