Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has stated that the "Chisinau Declaration", adopted by the 46 member states of the Council of Europe, recognizes the right of countries to implement new solutions for managing immigration, including repatriation centers in third countries according to the Italy-Albania model.

Through a reaction on social media, Meloni described this as "an important achievement", emphasizing that Italy has played a key role in this process, together with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

"What was considered controversial just a year ago has today become a common principle for the 46 member states of the Council of Europe," said Meloni.

According to her, this proves that the Italian approach to managing migratory flows "with seriousness and sustainability" is gradually transforming into a European model.

Her statement comes at a time when the agreement between Italy and Albania to establish migrant centers on Albanian territory continues to remain at the center of political and institutional debate in Europe.
