Alexander Zverev is the winner of the 2026 US Open, the last grand slam of 2026, completing a perfect year, with two successes out of the 4 grand slams this year. The German managed to defeat American Ben Shelton in the final with a score of 3-1 in sets, 6-3, 7-6, 5-7, 6-2, after three hours and 36 minutes of play.

Sasha started the match perfectly, immediately taking Shelton's serve and winning the first set 6-3. Even in the second, Zverev was calmer in the decisive moments and triumphed in the tie-break.

Shelton responded in the third set, increasing the pressure and winning 7-5, but Zverev responded immediately. Two breaks in the fourth set gave him control of the match, before the German closed it out 6-2.

The second Grand Slam title for Zverev, after the triumph at Roland Garros this year. Another major success for the German, who now lifts the trophy at Flushing Meadows and confirms himself at the top of world tennis. The Sinner-Alcaraz duo is no longer invincible. Zverev at least for this year showed that he can compete with the two best tennis players currently in the world of tennis.
