With the launch of the Book Fair, one of the most renowned voices in Albanian linguistics, Professor Edmond Tupja, was invited to the studio. News24, where he spoke about his latest publication, a unique work that lists and analyzes swearing and curses in the Albanian language.

Professor Tupja, known for his contribution to the field of lexicology and for his direct approach to the linguistic phenomenon, emphasized that even strong words, regardless of context, are a reflection of the reality of the Albanian language and popular culture.

"Dictionaries should reflect the expressions that are used, and among the most used are swear words and curses. I must congratulate the dictionary authors and lexicographers for their work, because in all the dictionaries that I consulted for this publication, I found swear words and curses," said Tupja.

He added that despite the fact that some of them are vulgar or vulgar, they constitute an integral part of spoken language and should not be hidden from linguistic studies.

"There are swear words that are not included, the most vulgar ones, those that come out of the mouths of thugs, but they are still a wealth of language. In all other languages, swear words exist because they are used. The dictionary must reflect and explain the words, so that we know them and use them carefully, because people also explode and swear, these are words that exist," the professor added.
