The head of SPAK, Klodian Braho, reported today before the Committee on Civic Initiatives, Cooperation and Institutional Oversight, where he spoke about the Balluku case. He said that SPAK was clear in its request to the Assembly, which called for the lifting of immunity for former Deputy Prime Minister Balluku, to pave the way for her arrest.

Ivi Kaso: The second case concerns the request for lifting immunity in the case of Balluk. When you yourself came to the committee, you indicated that there were indications of violations for the criminal prosecution of Balluk. It would have been possible for her to commit one of those acts provided for by law, which would either interfere with the investigation, destroy the evidence, or there was a risk of her fleeing the country. This means that you were convinced that these cases would be affected if the immunity of the former Deputy Prime Minister was not lifted. Has this behavior of the Assembly harmed the criminal prosecution in this case? Balluk's procedural position has worsened and you have not yet made another request for the lifting of her immunity. How do you assess this behavior of the Assembly?

Klodian Braho:
The Prosecution has been clear about what it has requested. It cannot assess the position of the Assembly on a specific request. I cannot give details, it is a concrete issue. Perhaps at a later point in time, SPAK, following the investigations, may have a relevant decision-making. I cannot comment on the issue. What is clear is that the Prosecution has reflected in the closed-door discussions what it has requested and the Prosecution's reaction after the Assembly's decision-making is clear.
