MP and vice-chairman of the Democratic Party, Luciano Boçi, invited to the show "This Week" on News24, commented on the continuity of the opposition and the prospects for changes within the DP, focusing especially on the role of chairman Sali Berisha and the upcoming elections in the party.

Regarding speculations about Berisha's departure from the leadership of the DP, Boçi emphasized that this is not decided by individuals, but by the Democrats themselves with their votes. "As long as he receives the votes of the Democrats, he will be the leader of the Democratic Party, if it is someone else he can do this. This shows that every decision within the DP is decided with the votes of the Democrats," he said. The elections in the DP are expected to be held in April 2026.

Speaking about what needs to change in the DP, Boçi underlined the need to reduce the distance with the public, which according to him is key to restoring trust. “Reducing this distance is done by presenting seriously, alternatives and providing hope and solutions to the problems that have arisen in order to restore trust in citizens,” he said.

He added that the DP has conducted the necessary analyses, taking responsibility for the results of victories and defeats, and stressed that the lack of success so far, which has objective reasons, should not hinder the improvement of relations within the party and with the public.

"What always needs to change in the opposition is the difference with the public, which also determines the level of trust that the public builds with the opposition party. Reducing this distance is done by presenting seriously, alternatives, and providing hope and solutions to the problems that have arisen in order to instill trust in citizens."
"The DP has made its analysis both in victory and defeat, drawing out the results and responsibilities. The lack of success, which is for some objective reasons, does not mean that we cannot create a better relationship in internal relations within the DP and with the public," he said.
