Afrim Tola's testimony in the court session of the "Partizani" case, where former Prime Minister Sali Berisha is also a defendant, is revealed. Tola stated before the court that in the period 2006-2008 he directed the multi-sports club "Partizani", emphasizing that the institution had limited funds and many athletes were not paid by the state.
"There were endless sports, in all categories. The fund was very small and only elite athletes were paid. For the rest we tried to find financing opportunities," he said. Asked by SPAK representatives about the privatization procedures, Tola said that he had been part of the working group set up by the ministry to identify and evaluate the club's assets.
“We were a working group to show the assets and to do the valuation. No one contacted me during the time I was director,” he stated. Meanwhile, lawyer Klodian Skenderaj asked him if he remembered signing documents related to privatization. “Many years have passed, I don’t remember,” said the witness, later admitting that he had been part of the inventory commission.
Tola also described the dire condition of the sports complex's facilities. "Apart from the parts we tried to fix ourselves, the rest was dilapidated, there were no doors. There were even families occupying the premises," he said. According to his testimony, the inventory assessment in 2006 was around 20 million lek.
During questioning by Jamarbër Malltezi, Tola admitted that he had had objects forcibly occupied, but said that he did not remember a letter from 2003 that spoke of problems with the inventory. At the end of his testimony, he stated that he had not had contact with businessman Fatmir Bektashi while he was running the club. “I have heard the name, but I do not remember meeting him,” Tola told the jury.
