The new season of "Abissnet Superiores 2026-2027" starts on August 21, with a series of innovations that aim to increase the competitiveness of the championship, create more space for young talents and bring about an even better organization of the competition.
A new format for the championship
“Abissnet Superiore” will be held in three regular stages, with a total of 27 weeks. After their completion, the teams will be divided into two groups, where the first six teams will continue the competition in the play-offs, while the last four teams will play in the play-out. The points from the regular stage will be halved before the start of these stages.
The new format aims to keep the competition open and competitive until the final weeks, both for the championship title and for survival.
More space for young talents
Another important innovation is the mandatory activation of young players. In the “Abissnet Superiore” and the Albanian Cup, each team will be obliged to activate from the first minute, for at least one part of the game, a player born in 2007 and later, with an Albanian passport.
This rule aims to create more opportunities for young Albanian talents and contribute to the development of the next generation of footballers.
New schedule, more efficient organization
The matches will be played in four time slots: 13:30, 16:00, 18:30 and 21:00. The new structure aims to optimize the competition calendar and create better conditions for clubs, players, broadcasters and fans.
The club closest to the community
The new season will also see the continuation of the "Club in the Community" initiative, through which the Albanian Football Association aims to strengthen the connection between clubs and fans, families, young people and local communities.
With a new format, more space for young people, improved organization and a closer approach to the community, "Abissnet Superiore" begins a new season of development and competition.
