A traffic accident with one seriously injured person occurred this Tuesday morning on the national axis Delvinë-Saranda. The incident occurred on the turnoff to the village of Bajkaj, near a gas station, where the Delvinë-Saranda bus hit 65-year-old Agim Vocka, a resident of the village of Bajkaj, who was walking.
After the accident, the bus driver initially fled the scene, but was later apprehended by the Delvina Police services.
The Saranda Traffic Services have arrived at the scene and are investigating the circumstances and causes of the accident. The alcohol test showed that the bus driver had not consumed alcohol, with a level of 0.00 mg/l.
The injured man was initially transported by ambulance to Saranda Hospital. According to the White Shirts, the 65-year-old's condition is serious.
Due to his serious health condition, Agim Vocka has been transported by helicopter to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana, where he will receive specialized treatment.
"Around 08:00, in the village of Bajkaj, the bus driven by citizen VZ, 53 years old, hit the pedestrian, citizen AV, 64 years old, who is in serious condition. Police services arrested the bus driver, a few minutes after leaving the scene of the accident, and escorted him to the premises of the Saranda Police Commissariat, for further procedural actions. The investigation group is working to clarify the circumstances of the accident," the police explain.
