Democratic Party MP Klevis Balliu, through a statement to the media, has raised strong accusations regarding what he calls the "AKSHI affair", considering it not simply as a case of administrative corruption, but as serious proof of the ability of the Albanian judiciary to investigate the misappropriation of public funds and their transfer abroad.
Balliu focused particularly on the activities of citizen Ermal Beqiri and the company "Al Soft", highlighting data that, according to him, requires immediate and comprehensive investigation by law enforcement agencies:
"In Albania, Al Soft was founded in 2010, and in the same year it entered into liquidation proceedings. However, it turns out that in the city of Nîmes, in France, an entity with the same name, AL Soft, has been registered, with the object of activity in hospitality, accommodation and information technology, where the activity of Al Soft in Albania is also promoted as a success story. It also turns out that entities with the same name have also been registered in Belgium and Cyprus," said the democrat MP.
The DP representative emphasized that these elements raise fundamental questions that cannot be ignored. He called on the Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK) not to limit itself to investigating administrative procedures or public contracts, but to pursue money and assets created inside and outside the territory of Albania.
Balliu raised several direct questions for the justice authorities, demanding to know whether the source of the capital with which these activities were financed in France, Belgium and Cyprus has been verified, whether the financial flows and beneficial ownership in relation to the NAKSHI funds have been analyzed, and whether a full property investigation has been carried out. He stressed that if there are reasonable suspicions, SPAK has a legal obligation to cooperate with the French, Belgian and Cypriot authorities to carry out the relevant verifications.
Concluding his statement, Balliu linked this issue to the wave of protests that have been taking place in the country for more than two months, emphasizing that citizens demand equal application of the law and punishment without exception for all those responsible.
"The AKSH affair is one of the files that has raised major public concerns about the relationship between political power, the administration of public funds and private interests. Albanian citizens have the right to know what is being done with their assets. This is one of the reasons why they have been coming out, for more than two months, every night in continuous protest. The message is simple: like thieves, like those who do not investigate and punish, they must be punished. There can be no silence on industrial-scale theft," Balliu concluded.
