Activist Bledar Meti has declared that the protesters will not stop and will not leave the square, warning of an escalation of civic action against the government led by Prime Minister Edi Rama.
During the protest, as citizens continue their march and stand near the Prime Minister's Office, Meti said that their goal is not simply to hold a march, but to continue actions and civil disobedience. According to him, the protesters will remain in the square to convey the message to Rama that he must step down from leading the country.
Meti stated that the civic movement that has been going on for months constitutes an important moment for the country and that the participants in the protests will remain in the history of Albania.
He called on citizens to continue their resistance, describing the protest as an effort to change the political system and for greater democratization of the country.
"We have not come here for an ordinary march. There will be escalation, action and stance. We also salute those citizens who are engaging in civil disobedience in other places," declared Meti.
The activist said that the citizens participating in the protest are the ones who created this movement and have been keeping it alive for months. He described the situation as an opportunity to change the way democracy works in Albania.
Further, Meti stated that Albania has its own potential and that Albanian citizens should not leave the country to seek better opportunities. According to him, change must start within the country and must be led by the citizens.
"You will be the ones who will realize this democratic revolution. Let's democratize Albania. It is no longer necessary to go to the world to find opportunity. Albania is full of opportunities, Albanians are capable and ambitious," the activist said.
Meti reiterated the call for the continuation of the protests and said that the movement's goal is to end Edi Rama's regime.
"Let's put an end to the 36-year establishment and Rama's authoritarian regime," declared Bledar Meti.
