Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu, has responded to the opposition's accusations regarding the coronavirus situation.
Through a message on Facebook, Manastirliu calls on the opposition not to play politics with the pandemic, but to provide personal examples of implementing the measures.
According to her, Albania has among the lowest fatality rates in the region and Europe.
MONASTERY POST:
For all the "doctors" of politics and the "politicians" of medicine, who see the health of citizens only as a weapon to be used in the political attack of the day:
We continue to trust and follow the strategy of the best public health experts in the country and work every day like the first day, to strengthen the capacities of the health system, in response to the Sars-Cov2 epidemic.
We continue to strongly believe in the transparent provision of data, in understanding and cooperation with citizens, for the necessary measures needed to protect health in this pandemic situation.
Today, the number of citizens hospitalized is about 20% of the capacity of beds made available. A heroic work is being done by the doctors and nurses who are on the front line of the war at the Infectious Disease Hospital at QSUT.
The number of fatalities per million inhabitants is much lower than most European Union countries, and the second lowest among countries in the region.
Our current surveillance protocols are based entirely on WHO and ECDC guidelines.
90 percent of suspected cases are isolated and confirmed within 48 hours.
Public health rapid response teams are constantly on the ground and are operational at all levels.
Our isolation strategy, at a time when the virus was at the height of its striking power and when our public health teams had many questions and unknowns about it, turned out to be a SUCCESSFUL strategy.
When we decided on the well-thought-out and gradual reopening, after an isolation among the strongest and fastest, we obviously took into account that increased interaction and contacts would bring cases of new infections. That's why we never stopped communicating with citizens, asking for awareness about the implementation of measures and protocols for every activity.
In the same way, we did not stop for a moment the work on strengthening the hospital capacities and equipping the medical personnel with personal protection materials.
Reports on the number of infected people, about which citizens and partners are informed every day, continue to be transmitted accurately and above all TRANSPARENTLY.
We welcome everyone's constructive criticism, just as we reject with disgust the accusations and claims of those who, since the day the virus appeared, have not left a day without doing politics with it, with often contradictory accusations, UNFAIRLY tarnishing the work of thousands of health experts, doctors, nurses, who have not stopped the fight against Covid-19 for a single moment.
We call on citizens to continue to implement the only tools we have at our disposal in the fight against Covid-19, which are social distancing, wearing a mask wherever social distancing cannot be maintained.
As for who is doing politics with the coronavirus, we again call on them to help by first of all setting a personal example for the implementation of Anti-Covid measures, so that they too can contribute to the fight against this virus.
