Greek authorities have been put on alert after a suspicious suitcase was discovered on Evelpidon Street, in the Kypseli area of ​​central Athens. According to preliminary information, body parts of a person were found inside.

Greek media reported that a strong odor was coming from the suitcase, while a leg, believed to belong to a man, was reportedly visible outside. The suitcase was discovered at around 14:00 p.m. (Greek time) on Saturday by a homeless person, who immediately notified the police. Multiple Hellenic Police forces arrived at the scene, while a forensic expert was also called to carry out initial examinations.

Investigators have taken the testimony of the person who made the discovery and have begun collecting footage from security cameras in surrounding buildings, with the aim of identifying the person who may have left the suitcase in that area. The incident occurred in one of the most frequented areas of the Greek capital, opposite the entrance to the Panhellenic University premises, while investigations continue to identify the victim and to clarify the circumstances of the case.
