Today marks the anniversary of the assassination of Azem Hajdari, one of the most well-known figures of the anti-communist movement and the Democratic Party. On this memorial day, DP MP Tritan Shehu remembered Hajdari, describing him as an inspiring symbol of democracy and freedom.
Shehu says that Azem Hajdari left behind a huge void in Albanian society, which, according to him, is felt even more in periods of strong political confrontations. "Even after so many years of that political crime, Azem continues to be here! He is part of the DP, of the opposition, of that Albanian society that aspires and fights for freedom, democracy and European values," Shehu writes.
The Democratic MP describes Hajdari as a figure who, although physically absent, continues to inspire entire generations. According to him, Azem Hajdari was a "fiery spark" during the years of confronting the dictatorial regime and his message remains relevant today.
REACTION
Azem is an inspiring symbol!
He left behind a real void in Albanian society. A void that, especially in these times of intense confrontations with the regime, becomes more tangible every day.
Even after so many years since that political crime, Azem is still here!
It is part of the Democratic Party, of the opposition, of that Albanian society that aspires and fights for freedom, democracy and European values.
Even in his absence, he continues to radiate and inspire.
Azem was a "fiery figure" in the years of confrontation with the dictatorial regime.
A "scrap" that has not lost its shine!
Because even today his message is still relevant, perhaps more necessary than ever: to kill fear among people!
Just like Azem did.
Just like he fought.
For freedom, democracy, Europe!
We will remember it forever.
Family, friends, comrades, those who knew him and fought alongside him, but also the generations who did not have the opportunity to know him physically.
May the memory of Azem Hajdari be eternal!
Eternal be his message!
