The Carabinieri in Foggia have arrested two people, including an Albanian citizen, suspected of being the perpetrators of the shootings that rocked the outskirts of the city on the evening of May 10. According to Italian authorities, a 37-year-old Albanian and an Italian of the same age from Foggia were arrested, who are accused of attempted murder and possession of illegal weapons.

The incident occurred near the Penny Market parking lot in the Via San Severo area, where a carabinieri patrol intervened after reports that a foreign national was being threatened with death by a person known to him.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers heard several gunshots coming from the park on Ugo Iarussi Street. At the same time, dozens of people, including women and children, were seen running away to escape the danger. The Carabinieri immediately identified and arrested the two suspects, who have numerous criminal records. The Albanian citizen was caught about 40 meters from the scene, while the Italian was arrested a little later thanks to information provided by passersby.

During the intervention, police found that a man and a woman had been shot in the right and left legs, respectively. Both were transported to a local hospital, where they received medical attention.

Preliminary investigations show that the two arrested had entered the parking lot armed with pistols and, after a fight involving several people, opened fire several times, injuring two passers-by. During the searches, the carabinieri seized two pistols with erased serial numbers, which are suspected to have been used in the attack. On May 14, the Court of Preliminary Investigations confirmed the arrest of the two people and ordered their pre-trial detention, while the Prosecutor's Office continues its investigations to fully clarify the motives for the armed attack.
