Kosovo Police undertook an important operation this Thursday within the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, arresting several officials suspected of involvement in corruption.
Among those detained is Florije Kelmendi Selimi, the mother of the renowned artist Getoar Selimi, who is known for her engagement in public institutions.
According to official announcements from the Kosovo Police, the arrests were carried out by order of the competent Prosecution Office and are part of the investigation into the criminal offense of "Abuse of official position or authority." In addition to her, two other officials of this ministry have also been detained.
Police spokesperson, Baki Kelani, said that the action was taken in Pristina, with the aim of investigating persons suspected of violating official duty. The Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina confirmed the development of the investigations, through spokesperson Kaltrina Shala, who emphasized that the actions are being carried out in close cooperation with the Kosovo Police.
While the information is still partial, it is expected that after the completion of the initial phase of legal proceedings, judicial authorities will provide more details about the involvement and responsibilities of each of the detainees.
