The event that shocked Fier and the entire public opinion ten months ago, returns today with the same pain, but with an even stronger call for justice. It was an afternoon that forever changed the fate of a family, when a girl of only 12 years old found the strength to break the silence and denounce the nightmare she had been carrying inside her for years. What began as a report from neighbors, revealed one of the most macabre crimes.
In front of psychologists at the Fier police station, the minor testified with a trembling voice that the perpetrator of the violence was exactly the one who was supposed to protect her: her 36-year-old father. She did not just talk about one incident, she confessed to a systematic ordeal of abuse that had begun when she was a baby, only 5 years old. The father, placed in handcuffs, admitted to the crime, but defended himself with the words: "It only happened once."
A desperate attempt to minimize a ruined life, while her daughter was urgently sent to Tirana, to a rehabilitation center.
On the show "With an Open Heart" by author and moderator Evis Ahmeti, the mother of the 12-year-old girl recounted details from the night her daughter left home while denying that the crime was committed by her husband. According to her, the court should speak and impose justice, while there have also been complaints regarding the investigations that have been conducted into the case.
"My husband didn't do it. I await the court's decision. He was a devoted father. I had the children in front of me. The day before we went out, the girl was sleeping with her sister in one room, the boys in the other room. I didn't hear any noise. The sister came and told us that the girl had run away from home. It was around 4 in the morning. When the girl left the house, there were no visible signs of violence. Later, she was found in the canal by the village head, Afrimi. Later, at the Patos psychology center, it was found that the girl had signs of violence and scratches.
My husband and I looked for the girl and couldn't find her. The police station didn't write anything about what I said. I have disputed the statements.
I didn't go near the hut, the man entered and then filed a report about the girl's disappearance. We heard noises and said that I could hear my daughter there, as if she was talking with her mouth closed.
They kept us for many hours in the yard of the Fier police station without a drop of water.
"I was with my daughter when they separated me, took me to my husband, and he told me it was something that would be clarified. The officer pressured me, he said, 'Yes, you lied, take this one too, take this one inside,'" she said.
