Activist Arvina Lleshi has called for participation in the September 24 protest in front of Parliament, opposing draft laws related to protected areas, the Mountain Package, and strategic investments.
In her speech, Lleshi emphasized that the law should be the same for everyone, regardless of the power, wealth, or position they hold.
"The law was not made just for the ordinary citizen, the law was made for everyone. Even for those who have power, for those who have money, for those who have connections, even for those who sit in the highest office in the state," she declared.
The activist was critical of the way in which, according to her, laws are drafted in Albania and called on citizens to read for themselves the draft laws that are expected to be reviewed in the Assembly.
"Do you know that in Albania, laws are made by those who cannot read, articulate and no longer make laws? Do you know that on Thursday, September 24, anti-Albanian draft laws on protected areas, the Mountains Package and strategic investments are expected to be voted on in Parliament?" said Lleshi.
She asked citizens to see for themselves what these legal initiatives change, who benefits from them, and what the citizen is left with.
"I invite you to read them for yourself, see what changes, who benefits, and what the citizen is left with in the end," the activist said.
Lleshi emphasized that Albania should not be considered the property of the government or a group of people in power.
"It should be clear, Albania does not belong to the government, it does not belong to a handful of people who are in power today and may not be tomorrow. Albania is ours, it belongs to the people who work every day, it belongs to the one who wakes up at 5 in the morning to go to work, it belongs to the farmer, it belongs to the teacher, it belongs to the doctor, the student, the immigrant who has fled out of necessity and not out of desire."
"It is the right of every Albanian to live with dignity in their own country," she declared.
The activist then called for unity despite different political beliefs, listing justice, property, and the nature and functioning of institutions as common issues.
"We may indeed have different beliefs, but for some things we must all be together. For justice, for property and for nature. For institutions that respect the citizen, for a state where the law does not change based on your name," said Lleshi.
Finally, she reiterated the call to participate in the September 24 protest in front of Parliament.
"On September 24, I invite all citizens to be in front of Parliament. To tell them once again that you do not represent us," the activist concluded.
