Bastar Murrizi is known as one of the villages that produces the most tomatoes in the area, but this year the farmers have faced a lack of market for their produce. They express disappointment, saying that wholesalers are making fun of them, as they want to buy tomatoes for only 300 old lek per kilogram.

"We can't even cover the cost of production at this price. We've spent a lot on seedlings, irrigation, and fertilizer, and now our tomatoes are rotting in our plots," the farmers say.

They add that the only thing they ask from the state is to ensure a market for agricultural products, as their area lives only on agriculture and livestock. “We are a mountainous area, not far from Tirana, but we have no place to market our products. Under these conditions, many of us have decided not to plant tomatoes next year,” add the residents of Bastar Murriz.
Views from the plots show tomatoes rotting in the field, a situation that, as farmers say, is painful to see after all the hard work of a whole year.
