In a joint post on X, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa confirm the good atmosphere of their discussion with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in the presence of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Brussels. Ukraine's security, its European path and Kiev's financing were at the heart of the discussion.

“As peace talks continue, the EU remains steadfast in its support for Ukraine. Our funding proposals are on the table. The goal is a strong Ukraine, both on the battlefield and at the negotiating table. We reaffirmed to President Zelensky that the EU remains steadfast and committed to its principles. Ukraine’s security must be ensured in the long term, as a first line of defense for our Union. These priorities were at the heart of our discussions with the NATO Secretary General. Europe will continue to contribute to all efforts for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.”
