Sali Berisha, in an attempt to create a narrative that will convince democrats to protest, says, among other things, that:
"… Edi Rama has more power than Enver Hoxha..."
Despite some hyperbole that the doctor regularly uses in his speech, I basically agree with the finding that the current Prime Minister has accumulated a lot of political power. Having a qualified parliamentary majority makes him truly politically powerful. Armored in every aspect and from any constitutional attack.
But the answer to the question of why Rama became so strong is bitter.
Unpalatable pill.
The reasons must be sought in the political obscurantism; ideological disorientation; the total disconnection from Albania and the Albanians of today of the Democratic Party.
The narrative that "Rama steals our votes," meaning that the DP did everything correctly but it was the theft that punished them, DOES NOT MATTER.
The DP has suffered electorally badly and very badly, through its own fault. No one owes it anything for the wrong decisions it has made since 2013. It has gone from bad to worse and from mistake to mistake, from year to year. From election to election.
No narrative has taken hold in public communication.
It's very difficult today to find a social class that finds itself in the DP. No political ideas, just empty narratives in the name of dubious morality.
The DP has been against private property, against business and capital, against free economic initiative, against democratic competition, against urban development projects for years.
The DP attacks anyone who lives in a villa or a tower. It attacks anyone who builds towers and villas. That is, it attacks the largest number of people who live in these areas, forgetting that the fanatical democrats who remain in that party also live in the same places.
The peak of the DP's reactionary cacophony is when it attacks itself in internal debates (Gaz, the accuser, coexists with the accused) and when justice turns into a demon and an angel within a day...
A catastrophe that cannot be covered up with the tired, fact-free narrative of election fraud. By the way, the votes were recounted and the fraud was found to be within reason, right?!
The fact is that the votes in the ballot box produced this result. The DP failed to have more votes in the ballot box than Edi Rama and the SP. This is the fact. Opinions cannot cover this fact.
So Edi Rama became strong, from election to election. It happened because the DP showed more interest in benefiting from Edi Rama's power than in taking power from him.
People are not stupid. When they see the opposition being sold out, they will sell their votes too. That's all they have in their hands.
I am not saying, under any circumstances, that this is a good thing, but this is a fact.
Edi Rama was given super power by the votes that the DP lost. So the DP itself gave him super power.
