Writer Ben Blushi has shared the news of the publication of his new book, titled Unknown Albanians (Shqiptaret e Panjohur), a photographic album that will be promoted at the end of this month. The publication reflects Blushi's passion for photography, a passion that has taken him to many places in Albania to meet and photograph many people.
The book is an act of gratitude to these people, who have helped the writer develop his photographic skills. They are the personification of authentic Albania and are included in this album of 69 photographs, which reflect their simple daily lives. Blushi has chosen to title the book in English to enable these people, who represent the real Albania, to be recognized by foreign visitors to Albania.
This album includes portraits of Albanians who are not present in the media, are not part of the daily debates and live their lives with simplicity and modesty. Some of these people dress simply, ask for nothing in return and do not make a noise in the lives of others. The title of the book, Unknown Albanians, refers to these unknown people who are often invisible, but who in reality are the ones who represent the real life of Albania.
The book will be available in Tirana bookstores after March 25th and those interested in a copy can contact the author to obtain one. This album is a tribute to those who live away from the spotlight and who make Albania special with their simple and honest lives.
Post by writer Ben Blushi:
Unknown Albanians is my newest book that will be promoted at the end of this month.
This publication is a photo album with selected photos from almost three years of passion for this wonderful art which has taken me to many places in Albania, where I have met people that I would not otherwise have known.
These people taught me to photograph, so this publication is a kind of gratitude to them and that is why it is called Unknown Albanians.
The title of the book was intentionally written in English because I would like to introduce these people who represent the real Albania to foreigners who come to Albania.
Convinced that unknown Albanians have given more to Albania than all known Albanians combined, I believe that this album reflects them as they are in their simple, everyday lives.
Therefore, anyone who wants to know unknown people who don't appear on television every night, don't debate, don't get involved in other people's affairs, don't bother anyone, dress simply and go about their lives without bothering anyone and without asking for anything in return for their modesty, can find them in this book with 69 photographs, the cover of which is conceived as a black and white screen on which the back of an unknown boy from Belshi appears.
Unknown Albanians will be in Tirana bookstores after March 25th and anyone who wants a copy can write to me.
