NFL star Travis Kelce has spoken publicly for the first time about his marriage to singer Taylor Swift, calling the ceremony "the best night of my life."
The couple married on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York, in a luxurious and extremely private ceremony, attended by a number of well-known names from Hollywood and the music world.
Speaking to reporters during the Kansas City Chiefs' training camp in Missouri, Kelce said the wedding at Madison Square Garden had been the realization of a childhood dream.
"It was a bit interesting to live out my childhood dream, being in the Mecca of all sports venues and being able to get married there."
Kelce thanked the owners of Madison Square Garden for giving the couple the opportunity to hold a private ceremony.
"It was the best night of my life. A crazy night," he said.
Among the guests were actors Hugh Grant and Jason Sudeikis, singer Benson Boone and model Gigi Hadid. However, the couple has been very tight-lipped about the details of the ceremony and no official photos from the wedding have been released yet.
During the interview, Kelce referred to Swift as "my wife," doing so publicly for the first time.
He also spoke humorously about the high temperatures during the event, saying that "the air conditioner was cooking," in a reference to the heat wave that swept the US over the July 4th weekend.
After a honeymoon and a break, Kelce is back in training with the Kansas City Chiefs. The 36-year-old, who turns 37 in October, has won three Super Bowls and is preparing for another season in the NFL.
Despite speculation that next season could be the last of his career, Kelce has given no signs of retirement.
"I still have a lot of love for this game. I want to go out there and prove to myself that I can play at a better level than last year," he said.
He described his return to the field as a special moment.
"This will always be my sacred place," he said.
