The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has increased the accusations against Prime Minister Edi Rama and the government cabinet, describing agricultural schemes as "a means for massive vote buying" during the May 11, 2025 election campaign.
In a press conference, Berisha stressed that the national agricultural subsidy program, with a fund of 44 million euros, was used criminally during the election period. According to him, the normative act (VKM no. 150, dated March 6, 2025) was adopted precisely to influence voters in rural areas.
"The application period, from April 14 to May 30, coincides completely with the campaign and post-election period. It was: 'Either votes, or you don't get subsidies.' This is the legal basis for this ugly electoral crime," Berisha declared.
According to him, over 53 applicants have been left waiting and the process has been politicized through "confirmation of patronage figures".
"Lubi Balluku, Anila Denaj, Mirela Kumbaro, all together with Rama are at the head of the 200-million electoral crime. Public funds were used for votes, in violation of the Electoral Code, the Venice good practice and the OSCE/ODIHR guidelines," Berisha stressed.
He warned that these facts will be filed with international institutions and that "the falsification of the will of citizens will not go without consequences."
