Her departure from the Socialist Party was undoubtedly sensational news. The brave act of the young MP, known as Neomalësorja, Marjana Koçeku, was even greater when she openly declared her support for the civic protest, where for 52 consecutive days Albanians have been demanding Rama's resignation. In a statement for the 'Lunch Program' in News24 with Ola Bruko, Koçek told when he was convinced to make the decision to leave the SP.
"Like any other process, this decision took my time to think about and elaborate on how I would implement it and when it would be appropriate. There were occasional moments, it did not come unexpectedly. But it was the protest that strengthened me to take this step," she said.
What were the reasons that Koçek gave up on the SP? – the MP replied that; "The protest motivated me a lot for this decision, as something inspiring, coming from my generation, the new generation that I belong to. There was a history of events that have happened for 10 months that have pushed me towards the idea that I do not belong to this party group. I have also raised them as issues. I have spoken about these issues in meetings, in the locality, or in the central meeting. I spoke about the issue of the Drini River, where I grew up. I did not get the answer I wanted. The environment was not given the proper attention. So we need to be aware. In the group meetings, I spoke about issues such as the Cadastre and its law. I come from the Shkodra Highlands, and I know the problems of Albanians. There must be legal clarification, as there are legal overlaps in such a way that the residents get their properties. Before entering politics, I had an agritourism business with my family, which became known in the international media. Then I became part of Rama's podcast. There I explained and my vision and the problems. The two main motivations that I entered were entrepreneurship and the development of the area in the trajectory that I had created. When this moment came to me, since the opportunities were limited, I accepted. This motivated me to take on this public commitment and come to the aid of my residents.”
