An Afghan national has been arrested by Greek police on suspicion of murdering his compatriot in the autumn of last year in the Paros area. He was arrested earlier today after nearly 10 months of investigation.
According to police, the bloody crime took place on the evening of October 2, 2025 in Naoussa, Paros. The victim, an Afghan laborer and electrician who lived alone, was found dead in his home by his employer, who was looking for him after he failed to show up for work.

The 44-year-old was found with more than 15 wounds to his chest, back and ribs. Police estimated that the murder occurred while the victim was in bed, while the lack of signs of a break-in at the entrance to the apartment led to the conclusion that the perpetrator was probably known to him.

The investigation into the case came after a thorough investigation by the Paros Police Department in collaboration with a team from the Syros-Ermoupolis Criminal Investigation and Prosecution Department. Authorities managed to identify the 34-year-old as the suspected perpetrator of the murder and an international wanted notice was issued against him through INTERPOL.

As part of international cooperation, the accused was found in Bosnia and Herzegovina by local authorities. Following the issuance of an international arrest warrant by the Aegean Appellate Prosecutor's Office, he was handed over to Greek authorities and transferred to Greece to answer for the charges he faces.

The 34-year-old is being sent to the First Instance Prosecutor's Office of Syros, while investigations continue to investigate all aspects of the case and the circumstances that led to the bloody crime that had shocked the local community of Paros.
