Thomas Frashëri has been announced as the winner of the "Lumo Skëndo" Prize for 2025. His book "Princes of Lilit, Sons of Arbër, Family of the Sultan" has been awarded the best work in the field of journalism and essays.

Heraldry and genealogy, alongside documentary data, show us the Topiaj dynasty in an Albanian, Balkan, European and Ottoman historical context. “Princes of Lilit” – sons of the Arbër, relatives of the Sultan, a scholarly book by Thomas Frashëri, has been announced the winner of the “Lumo Skëndo” Award by the National Center for Book and Reading. It was considered the best work in the field of journalism and essays, for its scientific originality and contemporary methodological approach. Thomas Frashëri dedicated the award to Lumo Skëndo, appreciating his influence on Albanian culture.

Known as Lumo Skëndo, Mithat Frashëri would mark Albanian culture with many contributions, despite the denial and cover-up that was made during the dictatorship. While his figure is being reevaluated, the director of the Book Center, Arta Marku, took his example as a lesson for today.

Thomas Frashëri's book highlights the role of the large Topiaj family and its main representative, Karl Topia. By shedding light on them, the study brings out from the shadows of centuries and the cemetery of the Arbëro aristocracy, perhaps its most interesting, the Topiaj dynasty, and brings Aurel Plasari to light.
