The chairman of the constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly, Vetëvendosje MP Avni Dehari, has announced that he has called for the session to be continued on September 9, at 11:00.
Through a Facebook post, Dehari described the agreement reached between the Vetëvendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo as good news, but emphasized that there is still no complete clarity on whether the necessary number of deputies exists to constitute the institutions.
"As the Chairman of the Constitutive Session, I saw as good news the agreement reached between the VETËVENDOSJE! Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo. Although there is still no complete clarity as to whether the necessary number of deputies exists to constitute all institutions, I have decided to call the continuation of the Constitutive Session on September 9, at 11:00," Dehari wrote.
He stated that by this date he expects the political agreement to be accompanied by concrete responsibilities and the willingness of the deputies to fulfill their constitutional obligations.
"Kosovo does not need another delay, nor another crisis, and even less a new electoral process," Dehari emphasized.
The constitutional deadline for the constitution of the Assembly ended on August 7. The last session on this issue was held a day later, and since then its continuation has not been called.
Meanwhile, the LDK and Vetëvendosje have reached an agreement for university professor Bekim Sejdiu to be the joint presidential candidate. However, LDK MPs Avdullah Hoti, Hykmete Bajrami, Kujtim Shala, Janina Ymeri, Armend Zemaj and Arben Gashi have spoken out against the agreement.
