The World Health Organization (WHO) is concerned about a surge in coronavirus cases in some countries ahead of next winter.
"Unfortunately, not all countries are reporting more cases, but among those that have notified WHO, hospital admissions and Covid-19 treatments in intensive care units have increased," WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in Geneva.
He said the percentage of vaccinated people in high-risk groups is worryingly low in America and Europe.
"Covid-19 may not be as acute a crisis as it was two years ago, but that does not mean we can ignore the disease," Tedros said.
