Cristiano Ronaldo continues to set records not only in football, but also in the world of sports collectibles. An extremely rare trading card featuring the Portuguese superstar has sold for a whopping $1.35 million, making it the most expensive Ronaldo card ever sold.

The unique 2018 “Panini Kaboom Green” card, a 1-of-1 edition featuring Ronaldo in a Juventus shirt, was reportedly sold on May 24th at a private auction organized by Fanatics Collect.

The record amount makes this card the second most expensive in football history, behind Lionel Messi's rookie card, which sold for $1.5 million. In third place is Brazilian legend Pelé's card, worth $1.33 million.

The previous record for a Ronaldo card was set just two days ago, when a 2015 Panini Flawless Finishes Black autographed card sold for $420. The new sale of $1.35 million immediately tripled that record.

The “Green Kaboom” series is considered one of the rarest in the sports collectibles market. The cards never went on general sale in 2018, but were distributed exclusively through the “Panini Rewards” program, significantly increasing the value and interest of collectors worldwide.

This transaction once again confirms Cristiano Ronaldo's global status as one of the most iconic and sought-after figures in the history of sports.
