The leader of the Democrats, Sali Berisha, expressed his conviction that Albania has been involved in arms trafficking and smuggling with Roni Yeffet.
In a media appearance, he supported the statements of former Minister of Finance, Arben Ahmetaj, while warning that he would pursue this issue outside of Parliament.
Question: Meanwhile, the majority has ignored all the wiretaps that have been published and has already rejected the request for an investigative commission. What will the opposition do to keep alive, or to hold accountable, what could be arms trafficking?
Sali berisha: He is an arms trafficker, I guarantee you, that we would never say he is an arms trafficker or he is not. He is a genuine arms trafficker. If certain rules are not respected in the movement of arms, they are established rules, they are international and national. Then in this case, without a doubt, we are dealing with arms trafficking, we are dealing with smuggling and arms trafficking. In this context, we will make every effort, within the parliament, we will make every international effort to present the high danger that this person poses to NATO, to the region and to Albania. We will do these things.
Question: Meanwhile, do plenary sessions make sense in this situation where the majority continues to deny you the rights you are entitled to, such as that of the investigative committee, and you yourself said it a little while ago about the situation in which the parliament is...
Sali berisha: They have no meaning. I agree with you, no meaning. The sessions here have no meaning, since this parliament has completely lost its legitimacy.
Question: However, will you continue to participate in these sessions which you considered meaningless?
Sali Berisha: I say that this parliament has lost all legitimacy, which firstly stems from dishonest elections, from electoral farce. Secondly, with the vote it made with three mandates for Lubi Balluku, the parliament has actually reached a stage where it should no longer exist, because there are two factors that lose legitimacy.
