The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has openly criticized the organizers who handled the last protest held on May 8, saying that they should have been better organized in terms of how the deputies should have been engaged in the rally.
In a media appearance, Berisha was asked by journalists about the low numbers at the rally and the fact that MPs do not even bring their families with them.
Berisha said that it will be necessary to decide where the deputies will sit, with the citizens, or with the DP structures.
Journalist: I didn't need to see the news from international media, because I see it firsthand. This protest had low participation figures, but it's my personal opinion. I've seen them in all the protests. Do you think the Democrats should do more to inspire Albanians? In all the protests I've followed by the DP, I don't see their families in the protests. Or with their children. Should the DP also work from this perspective?
Sali Berisha: The MPs as a whole have all been in the protest. Where should they stand? It is a debatable issue. For some, they should stand at the head of the protest. For others, they are asking to stand with groups of citizens from their areas. This has not yet received an answer. Where I was, from 3 meters away there was an MP, and a citizen wrote to me; he was not there. But I saw him. We need to organize better. The organizers need to organize better. If we were to call on them to be in the protest by any means, the police would not be able to cope with those 5 thousand citizens. But we are for a peaceful protest. No police officer was injured.
