More details have emerged from the serious accident that occurred yesterday in Karpenisi, near the Holy Monastery of Panagia Prousiotissa in Greece. According to information, a vehicle driven by a 59-year-old man left the Prousos-Tornos road and fell off a cliff about 300 meters deep, ending up just above a river. Immediately after the announcement, a major rescue operation was organized with the participation of the Fire Department, Police and the Emergency Medical Service (EKAB).

Greek media reported that firefighters found the man's body outside the vehicle, in a very serious condition, a few meters away from the vehicle. According to Mega TV, the body was severely damaged due to a fall from a great height, while the head had been severed. Hellenic Police spokeswoman Constantia Dimoglidou stated that all possibilities are being investigated, including whether it was an accident or an event with criminal elements. She stressed that the condition of the body is justifiable due to a fall from an extreme height, while decisive results from the forensic examination are awaited.

For his part, the commander of the Evrytania Fire Department, Yiannis Arapis, explained that the operation was particularly difficult due to the mountainous terrain and the risk of landslides. He announced that the search continues today, with the use of drones and thermal cameras, to verify whether there were any other people in the vehicle. Preliminary investigations are being carried out by the Hellenic Police (ELAS), while authorities remain on alert in the area.
