A 57-year-old woman was arrested by the Kurbin Police as the suspected perpetrator of her mother's murder. The incident occurred on April 30 of this year in Fushë-Mamurras, where 57-year-old Violeta Shpani is suspected of killing her mother with a knife. A doctor has also been prosecuted, who has completed the act as a natural death and has not reported the case to the police.

From the entirety of the investigative actions, it has resulted that the 85-year-old woman lost her life as a result of stabbings, while the suspected perpetrator of the incident is her daughter Violeta Shpani, who lived in the same apartment as the victim and suffered from mental health problems.

Following the actions, the 57-year-old woman suspected of being the author of the criminal offense "Murder due to family relations" was detained, and the knife with which the serious act was allegedly committed was seized.

The Lezha Local Police Directorate provided operational information that an 85-year-old woman had died in the village of Fushë Mamurras on 30.04.2026, claiming a natural death and without being reported to the Police.

From the information provided by the Police, reasonable suspicions arose of a criminal event.

Based on the information provided, the Lezha Local Police Directorate immediately established a special investigative group, which, in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office, immediately initiated verification and investigative actions regarding the case.

From the entirety of the investigative and procedural actions, it has resulted that citizen D. Sh., 85 years old, lost her life as a result of blows with a cutting tool (knife), while the suspected perpetrator of the incident is her daughter, citizen V. Sh., who lived in the same apartment as the victim and suffered from mental health problems.

Following the actions, citizen V. Sh., 57 years old, resident of Fushë-Mamurras, was detained, suspected of being the author of the criminal offense "Murder due to family relations".

The cutting tool (knife) was seized as material evidence, as well as other evidence related to the incident.

Also, procedural materials have been referred to in the free state for citizen A. Ll., a doctor, for the criminal offense of "Abuse of duty", who completed the death certificate, qualifying it as a natural death and not reporting the death of the 85-year-old to the Police.

In cooperation with the Prosecutor, work continues on the complete legal documentation of the event and, if there are other persons involved, on identifying and holding them legally accountable.
