In October, the documentary "Spaç 1973 - Martyrs of Freedom" was released, which brought to the public the anti-communist revolt of Spaç prison and the memory of the martyrs of freedom.
Directed by the author Besim Ndregjoni, the film is an act of cultural rebellion against oblivion and a living testimony to one of Albania's greatest wounds in the 20th century. Ndregjoni, invited to the show 'This Week' on News24, showed details from the documentary, adding that all the executioners are named in it.
"The documentary is a revolt against the lies of communism. The first is that the documentation and acts of the SPAÇ uprising were taken here, which is an unprecedented event in southeastern Europe, where prisoners were mistreated. This film shows that these prisoners did not rise up to defend their rights, but the national flag. The fascist regime damaged the Albanian flag and the communist regime that put up the Bolshevik star. This uprising took on global proportions. They gave their word that they would defend the national flag. This was an extraordinary message. The film has a special message. All the executioners appear in this film. One of the torturers provides information about the SPAÇ uprising. The extraordinary resistance of the prisoners, without weapons and bullets, they waved the flag in Spaç. I felt joy when I saw the documentary. I also had a communist historian in that documentary. He came out of the screening in tears and said to me; I'm sorry, Besim," he said.
