The Council of Ministers has approved two decisions that give the state-owned company KAYO, headed by former police officer Ardi Veliu, the right to enter into negotiations to conclude agreements with two foreign companies for the production of military vessels and drones. According to Defense Minister Ermal Nufi, this development is considered an important step for the defense industry in the country.
"The approval of two Councils of Ministers authorizing the KAYO company to negotiate with two companies for the production of floating vehicles and drones is significant. It is the first time that the opportunity for the production of floating vehicles has been created. We are close to finalizing the agreements. This will be an incentive not only for the military industry, but also for employment and the creation of a genuine step in the construction of floating vehicles," said the Minister of Defense, Nufi.
The decisions come at a time when questions have been raised in public opinion and the media regarding projects related to this company.
In August last year, KAYO took ownership of the buildings of the former Autotractor Plant, but has not yet started any concrete activities on the ground, while the television News24 was urgently removed from the buildings under the pretext of developing industrial projects in the defense sector.
