The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, welcomed the world-famous star, Dua Lipa, to Pristina, to grant her citizenship of the Republic of Kosovo by presidential decree.
Through a Facebook post, Osmani expressed that this is a 'special honor' for the country, emphasizing that he is one of the most important cultural and artistic personalities in the history of Kosovo.
"Welcome home, Dua," wrote President Vjosa Osmani.
"She has been and continues to be one of the most powerful voices on the world's biggest stages, making history with her achievements and becoming an inspiration to millions of people around the globe," he added.
Osmani praised Lipa's contribution to promoting Kosovo internationally, empowering young people, and supporting local art.
"Kosovo is always proud of you," the President concludes her post.
This symbolic and very significant act comes at a time when Lipa has become one of the most prominent names in the global music industry, without ever forgetting her Albanian roots.
