The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, was today in the Laws Committee to present the institution's annual report for 2024. During the session, he also answered questions from deputies, including those raised by Democratic MP Elda Hoti, regarding OLAF funds and an issue referred to as "Aruba".
Regarding OLAF funds, Dumani explained that the investigations are still in progress and he cannot provide more details at this stage. He stressed that cooperation with the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) is close and ongoing.
"I had the OLAF director in my office. It was made public as a meeting. We exchanged a lot of information and cooperation continues on issues related to the protection of EU funds, which are suspected to have been misused by the Albanian administration," said Dumani.
Regarding the "Aruba" issue, for which MP Hoti requested information on suspicions of money laundering and whether an inter-institutional group has been established to monitor financial flows, Dumani said emphatically:
“I am not aware of any ‘Aruba’ issue. I have nothing to share with the Assembly or public opinion on this topic.”
Meanwhile, Dumani stressed that SPAK is engaged in investigating issues related to EU funds, but in accordance with the law and maintaining the confidentiality of investigations, details from cases that are still active cannot be made public.
